In Days Gone, clearing hostile ambush camps is one of the most effective strategies for securing the wilderness of post-apocalyptic Oregon. Eliminating these fortified enemy strongholds clears fog from your map, reveals key points of interest, unlocks crafting recipes, and provides vital fast-travel waypoints. Understanding where every ambush camp is located across the game's major regions will make Deacon St. John's survival journey much smoother.
Ambush Camps in the Cascade and Belknap Regions
The early-game territories of Cascade and Belknap host several key outposts that players should clear as soon as possible. In the Cascade region, players can locate the Jefferson Rail Tunnel Camp in the north and the Cascade Radio Tower Camp farther south. Clearing these outposts rewards Deacon with essential crafting schematics like the pipe bomb.
Moving west into the rocky terrain of Belknap reveals three additional strongholds. The Bear Creek Hot Springs Camp, Black Crater Camp, and Belknap Caves Camp are heavily guarded by Marauders and Rippers. Finding the underground bunker hatches in these camps reduces threat levels significantly across the northern map.
Iron Butte and Lost Lake Outpost Locations
As the narrative pushes south into Lost Lake and Iron Butte, the enemy presences become more fortified and dangerous. In Lost Lake, Deacon must conquer the Berley Lake Camp to the south and the Deerborn Camp to the east. Securing these locations removes map fog around Iron Mike's encampment and simplifies regional navigation.
Iron Butte features two major Ripper strongholds known as the Wagon Road Camp and the Redwood RV Park Camp. Clearing these facilities severely weakens the Ripper faction while unlocking valuable stamina and health upgrades on the map. Careful stealth execution is recommended due to the dense sniper coverage in these areas.
Southern Region Camps in Crater Lake and Highway 97
The southern portion of the world map contains the final and most challenging ambush camps in the campaign. Crater Lake holds the Spruce Lake Camp and the Cascade Lakes Rail Camp, both heavily armed with armored guards. Securing Spruce Lake is particularly useful as it doubles as an important NERO Checkpoint location.
Finally, Highway 97 features the Aspen Butte Camp and the Bare Bay Camp nestled within swampy, hazardous terrain. In addition to these outposts, exploring nearby structures like the can provide extra tactical benefits during combat operations. Fully clearing all fourteen ambush camps completes the World's End storyline and reveals all hidden collectibles in the game.
